She appeared to be the embodiment of terror when she initially appeared on the talent show stage, with her shoulders hunched, hands trembling around the microphone, and eyes blinking tensely under the spotlight. You could really feel people subtly reducing their expectations as the audience calmed down and the judges gave her their customary kind smiles.
The song then began.

The judges leaned forward, obviously in disbelief that the same lady who had trouble getting through her introduction now making this sound.
Her confidence grew as the music did. She began to take control of the stage, opening her eyes, raising her head, reaching for the large notes, and mastering each one. The audience had already gotten up to applaud and cheer above the music by the time she reached the last chorus. The theater erupted in a standing ovation when the final note was played.
The judges didn’t hold back: they commended her bravery, her self-control, and the amazing metamorphosis from frightened novice to potential superstar that they had just witnessed in real time. As the contender who everyone would be talking about for the rest of the evening, she continued to walk as though she would cry.
