Kelly Ripa breaks down on TV after losing her 17-year-old dog

Following a devastating loss, Kelly Ripa and her spouse are in grief.

When discussing the death of her cherished dog, Chewie, on live television on Wednesday, Ripa broke down in tears.

She fought back tears and acknowledged that although she believed she had already dealt with her loss, the feelings were still too much to handle.

Unable to stop crying

Every pet owner knows that losing a dog is similar to losing a family member. Following the death of their cherished 17-year-old dog, Chewie, Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos are currently in sorrow. Following weeks of waning appetite, the couple had to make the painful decision to part ways.

On Wednesday, during an emotional edition of Live with Kelly and Mark, the well-known TV host broke the devastating news. Mark announced at the beginning of the presentation that Chewie, their cherished dog, had died at the age of 17.

He revealed that Chewie’s condition had swiftly gotten worse; she was badly dehydrated and had stopped eating. Kelly couldn’t contain her tears as she heard the words.

She made an effort to remain calm, but the feelings were just too strong.

I sincerely apologize. Guys, I thought I said everything. I apologize for not expressing myself fully; I truly believed I had. I didn’t want this to turn out this way. She gave us so much, thank God,” Ripa said.

Kelly said that Chewie was a really wonderful and affectionate dog. Chewie was a family member, a devoted friend, and a continual source of happiness in Kelly and Mark’s home even after their kids grew up and went off to college.

Chewie resembled a feline.

Kelly added, “She was really similar to a cat, you know, in many ways:

When she desired affection, she petted you. She wouldn’t allow us to kiss her face. She treasured her face greatly. That dog wasn’t her. Additionally, I kissed her nose and face a thousand times after she died last night.

I had never previously kissed her nose. I am aware that she was p**sed someplace in dog heaven! However, I didn’t mind because having it was simply so pleasant.

Many people, particularly those who saw the show, were moved by Kelly and Mark’s sincere and candid remarks regarding Chewie. According to the Daily Mail, Kelly has received countless condolence messages from followers on Instagram.

Following Kelly Ripa’s sad Instagram post about the devastating loss of Chewie, fans showered her with support and condolences.

Someone wrote: “I’m crying as I watch you right now! Don’t say sorry! You have Chewie in your family! I also experienced that. I’ve been missing mine for seven months now! You talked about both of your pets all the time! Chewie lived a wonderful life! I sincerely apologize for your loss.

“I felt like I knew the pup well from the way you spoke so lovingly about her,” another person said. “I cried with you while you guys were talking about Chewie.” I sincerely apologize for your loss. You didn’t need to apologize because losing a cherished pet is like losing a family member. We were all really sorry for you. She is now sleeping peacefully and watching you with disdain. May God bless everyone.

“I’m watching the show and crying about the loss of Chewie!” posted a third viewer. They make us very happy and are your fur babies. You should grieve as much as necessary. I’ll keep you and your family in my prayers.

“I knew what had happened the moment you walked out today,” read another sincere remark. I’m so sad for your loss. Don’t say you’re sorry for being angry. She will be a member of your family forever. We dog owners are aware of this.

Kelly Ripa’s unfiltered feelings only serve to highlight how deeply she loved Chewie. Losing a pet is like losing a piece of your heart. It demonstrates her compassion, as one admirer so eloquently stated.
