With the release of the song “The Git Up” by American country rapper Blanco Brown in 2019, the Git Up dancing Challenge became a viral dancing challenge. Participants in the challenge must execute a number of scripted dance steps to the song, including “do the two-step, cowboy boogie” and “slide to the left, slide to the right.”
On social media, the challenge immediately became well-known, with users posting videos of themselves performing the dance from all around the world. Ciara, Jimmy Fallon, and the Harlem Globetrotters were among the public figures and celebrities who joined in on the fun.
Blanco Brown himself made a tutorial video to teach fans how to perform the dance because the challenge was so well-liked. He also produced a remix of the song that included a verse by Thomas Rhett, a country music superstar. A dancing horse, however, is something you won’t see in any of those other Git Up Challenge films!
