The cruelty with which certain people can treat animals is just appalling. One poor puppy was discovered recently with duct tape wrapped around his entire head.
Despite the tragic scene, there is a joyful ending to the story:
The startling tale was released by the Nebraska Humane Society on April 15. Someone called Animal Control after hearing an animal inside a dumpster; she was astonished to learn it was a dog after first believing it to be a raccoon.
The state of the dog was unbelievable: his legs were bound together, his head and tail were completely wrapped in duct tape. Additionally, there were reports of “food and other debris caked in his fur.”
Kevin Wiederin, a responding staff member, told KETV, “I have never seen anything like it.” “It was just sitting there with its front and back paws taped together, and the entire muzzle was taped. The eyes were also covered with tape.”

“I felt completely nauseous. “I’ve never seen anything so disgusting,” he continued. “It is unthinkable to injure a living creature, much less a defenseless small dog, and then discard it like garbage.”
He was lucky to be found in time since, according to NHS, a truck arrived and emptied the dumpster 30 minutes after Animal Control answered the phone.
The Nebraska Humane Society received the puppy. The staff began removing the tape after putting him under sedation. To get rid of all the dirt, they had to shave his fur.
The dog was “otherwise healthy and seemed to be in good spirits despite his condition,” they posted on Facebook, adding that he was “perked up and was wagging his tail” despite having some skin irritation.
Fortunately, the team discovered a microchip after removing the tape. The dog’s name turned out to be Leo, and he had vanished a few days earlier.
Erin Dillon-Pasillas, Leo’s owner, claims that while she was transporting her son to school, the dog escaped the house. Concerning her missing pet, she had been calling shelters and in a panic for days.
“Every day became more demanding… She told KETV, “It was just crickets.” As I called them, I was trembling. “Please be my dog, please be my dog,” you know.

Erin was upset about what had happened to poor Leo, but she was glad to have her puppy back. “He is the most adorable dog! She told NHS, “I don’t understand why anyone would do this.”
Erin promised to give Leo a nice bath and a veterinary examination when he recovers from the incident.
Who did this to Leo is unclear. According to NHS, the dumpster where Leo was discovered is not surrounded by any cameras. They are offering a $1,000 prize for information that results in an arrest and invite anyone with information to call Animal Services at 402-444-7800.
We’re relieved that Leo is safe and back at home, but it’s awful to see someone duct tape a cute dog in that way. We hope the criminal is apprehended and prosecuted.
Tell this narrative, please.
