Campbell’s Soup Gets Some Terrible News, Stock Up While You Can

After being a mainstay in American kitchens for almost 200 years, Campbell’s Soup may soon be shut down.

The main cause of this catastrophic scenario is that consumers are becoming less interested in Campbell’s typical processed goods and more in natural, unprocessed foods.

Campbell’s made acquisitions to broaden its holdings in an attempt to adapt, which resulted in a crippling $9 billion debt load.

An internal power struggle is making the company’s problems worse. The Dorrance family, who hold 40% of Campbell’s stock, is at conflict with Third Point’s Daniel Loeb.

who owns almost 7% of the company’s shares. Legal conflicts over claimed mismanagement have been sparked by Loeb’s calls for drastic changes, including as rebranding and changing Campbell’s signature red and white cans.

A recent event that suggests possible changes ahead as the corporation fights for survival is that Campbell’s has agreed to appoint two directors that Third Point proposed.
