A Michigan school system called Swartz Creek Community Schools decided to give this trend a distinctive twist. On YouTube, their film has already received over a million views.
In order to convey a crucial message to their kids and families, Principal Jim Kitchen and Superintendent Ben Mainka pose for a camera while sporting their school team attire. Superintendent Mainka starts off in a serious manner:
“I want to share a quick video announcement with you now.” I’ve noticed a nationwide trend: when superintendents and other administrators try to announce school cancellations due to snow days, they make ridiculous songs, play music, wear sunglasses, and seem completely ridiculous. We feel as though we have.
He is cut off by the familiar opening to the well-known song “Hallelujah,” which is played on the piano in the background.
