Micah’s body was found 1/4 mile away from where they rescued his mother

As of Tuesday, sources say that at least 135 people have died because of Hurricane Helene.

As search and rescue teams continue to look for the missing 600 people, we are starting to hear the scary stories of those who made it through and the heartbreaking stories of those who lost loved ones.

The sad story of Jessica Drye Turner’s family was shared on Facebook by the Texas resident.

Turner first asked her family and friends to pray for her sister, nephew, and parents, who were stuck on the roof of their North Carolina home. She talked about how her family was stuck and had only the clothes on their backs and one phone that worked while they waited to be saved.

Turner later said that she got the sad news from a third party. It said that her parents and nephew had drowned, and that her sister Megan got stuck in “something” but was later saved.

Turner wrote another post on Facebook, this time with more information, after the shock wore off.

She wrote, “I need to clear up some details about what happened.” “I got my updates after being told something.” Until I heard from my sister directly, all the information I had came from other people. The real story is worse, but I feel like I need to tell you all about it.

It wasn’t true that Turner said the roof her family was sitting on fell in, as she had first said. The house flipped over, throwing her sister, her nephew who is seven years old, and her parents, who are in their 70s, into the water.

“Mama was holding on tight to Micah, and Daddy was having a hard time keeping Megan in his arms.” He was shaking and pushing her under all the time.

The river was too strong for Michael Drye to hold on to a tree or her father. He was swept away. After a short time, Megan saw her mother Nora float by.

“Micah where are you?” she yelled.

She wrote that her sister thinks their mother “gave up” at that moment because she lost Micah to the wind.

“The horror and defeat on my mom’s face were immense.”

Megan saw her son being swept away by the river just in time to look up.

“He was really scared.” He yelled, “Jesus!” Please help me!!! We think that’s when he was taken.

Megan let go of the tree she was hanging on to after seeing her family get swept away. Right away, the current grabbed her and pushed her between two trailers. She was stuck there for three hours before help arrived.

“A quarter of a mile past where they found Megan,” they found Micah’s body.

Everyone who has been hurt by Hurricane Helene is in my thoughts and prayers. We should all pay attention after seeing how badly this storm has hurt things. We need to do everything we can to stop climate change or storms will get worse.
