‘Top Chef’ star Naomi Pomeroy found dead at 49 in river, days after going missing

After Naomi Pomeroy was discovered dead in a river, the terrible search for the missing Top Chef star has come to an end.

According to accounts, the Portland chef went missing after a tubing accident, and her body was found on July 17.

In a devastating statement, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office revealed that Naomi had drowned. According to its inquiry, three adults—Pomeroy, her husband Kyle Linden Webster, and a friend—were entangled while riding connected paddleboards and tubes.

According to their report’s tragic facts, Naomi was dragged below after the party came upon a “exposed snag in the water,” and the “paddleboard leash” prevented her from escaping.

Webster and the buddy were retrieved by Corvallis Fire Department personnel at the coast, but Pomeroy’s body was not found right away, according to sources.

Pomeroy’s corpse was discovered in the Willamette River approximately 0.5 miles upstream of Hyak Park between the municipalities of Corvallis and Albany after a search was launched, according to an update provided by the sheriff’s office on July 17.

The office described how a body that was eventually identified as Naomi’s was spotted by canoeists on the river.

The 49-year-old self-taught cook rose to fame in her field after launching the highly regarded Portland eatery Beast in 2007.

Pomeroy was a guest judge on Top Chef in seasons 10, 15, and 18, and she has made appearances on Iron Chef and Top Chef Masters.

After Pomeroy’s passing, the program and Bravo, its network, released a statement on X, writing:

“The Bravo and Top Chef family extends its deepest sympathies to Chef Naomi Pomeroy’s family and friends. Naomi was a formidable chef who left a lasting impression on the food business.

Peace be with you, Pomeroy, Naomi.
