At the request of his parents, Daniel gave up his newborn kid at the age of 17. A new student showed up as he was coaching a little league team years later. Daniel struggled to determine whether he was his son because he had a striking resemblance to his ex-girlfriend Emily.
Hurry up, Josh! You must use all of your strength when swinging the bat. You’re capable! The nine-year-old youngster up for bat was screamed at by Daniel.
Daniel was 27 years old and the coach of his old primary school’s small league baseball club. He had no clue as a child that working with children would be so amazing, but this job just happened to fall into his lap, and it was better than spending all of his time in a classroom. He attended college and earned a degree in education, but he left teaching English to indifferent youngsters after a few years.
Knowing that Daniel had played ball for many years, a friend gave him the position, and it seemed fated. He enjoyed how everything fell into place. He couldn’t picture doing anything different because he had been doing it for a while. However, it wasn’t simple. It required a great deal of patience, and you had to keep telling kids that they were capable.
like with little Josh right now. Despite his shyness and love of books, his parents made him join the squad. Daniel saw his skill, but he was a little scared of getting hit. Josh will hopefully recover quickly and begin to appreciate it.
When Josh finally hit the ball, it traveled farther than the other players thought, and the child leaped about with joy as he ran to first base. “Well done, Josh! Yes, exactly! Daniel clapped and grinned at the youngster as he shouted at the field.
“Coach Givens?” Standing beside a boy Daniel had never met, Mrs. Finkle summoned his attention. This is a new student named Robert Marshall. He wanted to try out for the team after being transferred at the start of the week.
Fantastic! Robert, nice to meet you. We’ll see what you can do after we finish these sets. Daniel smiled, and Robert smiled back. “But don’t worry, we’re sure you’ll make the team easily.”
As Mrs. Finkle returned to her office, the boy took a seat with a few of the other children. However, Daniel scowled at Robert in the dugout for an excessive amount of time. He was unable to identify the cause behind the child’s familiar appearance. With a shrug, he resumed his practice.
Robert joined the squad right away since he was a natural at baseball. He was gregarious as well, and practically everything he said made the other boys laugh. When the parents finally began to arrive, Daniel noticed his new student going toward a woman who was smiling kindly. She knelt, gave him a hug, and got back up.
It clicked at last. Daniel recalled why he recognized the child. He resembled his ex-girlfriend Emily exactly. “But he can’t be, can he?” he asked himself out loud. However, the more he considered it, the more plausible it became.
He got his girlfriend Emily pregnant ten years ago. Naturally, at the age of 17, neither of them was prepared to become parents. They were informed by both of their parents that abortion was not an option. As a result, Emily carried the pregnancy to term and gave birth to their son.
Her parents refused to interact with their grandchild because they were upset. When things became too tough for Daniel, his parents encouraged him to be placed for adoption. He was torn, though. He adored this child, and Emily had sacrificed her life for him. How was he going to let him go? But his parents insisted, and he had no money.
Daniel obeyed his parents and gave up the kid since it appeared like he had no other option. However, he felt guilty and thought about him often. He may have enjoyed coaching the little league team because of this. They belonged to the same age range.
But perhaps Robert is not his son. He would go crazy if he didn’t stop thinking about those things. He didn’t detect it because of a slight resemblance. Granted, the baby didn’t resemble Daniel at all and had been blonde with green/blue eyes. He was entirely Emily. Robert’s eyes were vivid green and his features were more masculine.
However, after practicing weekly for a month, Daniel was unable to remain silent. The boy was equally skilled in baseball and behaved exactly like he did in school. He had to question his mother, at the very least, because the similarities to Emily and even to him were become more obvious.
“Mrs. Marshall, could we have a brief conversation?” While the children were taking showers after practice, Daniel went over to Robert’s mother, who was seated in the bleachers.
“Oh, Coach Givens. Give me a call, Nina. The woman said, “I’m not married,” getting to her feet and focusing entirely on him.
“I made a mistake. Now, this may sound strange and totally unexpected, but is Robert your biological son? Now that he knew Nina wasn’t married, Daniel felt a little more confident in asking the question.
“Whoa, hmm. That question has never been posed to me before. I look a lot like Robert, but no. He is not my biological son. He was adopted. He is already aware. But why would you ask? In response to Daniel’s query, Nina scowled. She didn’t appear offended, though.
Daniel said, looking down as though embarrassed, “It’s just… well, I gave a child up for adoption when I was 17 and I’ve had this feeling it might be Robert.” But he was taken aback by Nina.
“Take a seat. Give me additional details. What took place? She was adamant.
Daniel told her everything about the birth of his child and what transpired after Emily passed away, but he also admitted that he had been regretting that choice for a decade. I loved him, even though I knew I gave him up. I promise. I will be quite happy that he worked out so beautifully if Robert proves to be him. “I suppose I must find out for sure,” he concluded.
“All right, all right. I’m sad you’ve lost someone. You might be correct about him because the adoption agency never mentioned his birth parents. What happens if we get a DNA test? Nina posed the question gravely.
“Nothin’! I promise. I’d never dare to interfere in your life. In an attempt to explain to Nina why he needed to know, Daniel continued, “I just want that peace that he is loved and has a family.”
“All OK. “Let’s do it,” she said with a hesitant smile.
The findings verified that Robert was Daniel’s child, but he kept his word not to meddle in their affairs. That year, though, Nina invited him and his baseball friends to Robert’s birthday. She then advised them to be honest with the child and find out if he was interested in dating Daniel.
“Are you sure, Nina?” Daniel questioned her.
“My son made the choice. I have to be honest with him. He is free to choose whether or not he wants a relationship with you. However, I must caution you. You must give it your all. “I can’t allow him to suffer harm,” Nina said.
“Obviously! I swear!
It took some time for her kid to open up to Daniel after Nina told him the truth. The shift to a father figure was simple because he already trusted him as a coach. However, Daniel also began to develop feelings for Nina as he spent more time with his kid, and eventually their connection became amorous.
When Nina and Daniel announced their impending marriage, Robert was overjoyed. He was getting a whole family now that he had a father like the majority of his peers.
