Tito Jackson, brother of Michael Jackson and co-founder of Jackson 5, dead at 70, sons say

Tito Jackson, co-founder of the Jackson 5 and brother of the late Michael Jackson, passed away. He was seventy years old.

The shocking revelation was made on Sunday by his family.

Tito Jackson’s sons TJ, Taj, and Taryll posted a statement on Instagram stating, “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce that our beloved father, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer Tito Jackson is no longer with us.” “We are deeply hurt, shocked, and saddened.”

The music icon’s official cause of death is still unknown, but former Jackson family manager Steve Manning told Entertainment Tonight he thought the pop icon passed away on Sunday while traveling from New Mexico to Oklahoma from a heart attack.

Tito, the third of ten children born Toriano Adaryll “Tito” Jackson in October 1953, was the least known of the Jackson 5, playing guitar and serving as the group’s backup vocalist while his brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and Michael received greater attention.

The Jackson 5 were a musical family that achieved multiple No. 1 successes in the 1970s, such as “ABC,” “I Want You Back,” and “I’ll Be There.” In 1997, they were admitted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

Prior to his brothers Jackie and Marlon Jackson’s scheduled appearance, Tito was last seen in Munich, Germany, on September 9. On its 2024 tour, the trio has two shows left, but it’s uncertain how The Jacksons will manage the remaining dates.

“He goes by many names. Some of you may recognize him as Tito Jackson from the illustrious Jackson 5, while others may know him as Coach Tito or Poppa T. But he will be sorely missed nonetheless. For us, it will always be “Tito Time.” Please keep in mind to practice the lesson that our father constantly taught: “Love One Another.” His sons posted on their own music group’s Instagram page, saying, “We love you Pops.”

The news regarding Tito Jackson is heartbreaking. May he rest in peace and may the knowledge that so many people are thinking of his family get them through this very trying time.
