Barbra Streisand says she ‘can’t live in this country’ if Donald Trump wins 2024 presidential election

Barbra Streisand, the renowned singer and actress, has made it clear that she intends to depart the country if Donald Trump wins the 2024 presidential election. Streisand has expressed her strong views about Trump on previous occasions. She attacked him in her song “Don’t Lie to Me” and reaffirmed her position in a recent appearance with Stephen Colbert. “If he becomes president, I can’t live in this country,” she declared, calling Trump “so stupid” and “ill-informed.”

The 81-year-old Streisand has previously made remarks along these lines. After Trump won the 2016 election, she had also pondered leaving, though she never really did. Similar like Streisand, several famous people have promised to leave the nation but chose to remain.

Recognized for her deep Democratic connections, Streisand clearly despises Trump. She has referred to Trump as “the Liar in Chief, the Groper in Chief” and has long been outspoken about her political views. Her 36th album, “Walls,” which was motivated by the political atmosphere under Trump, was released in 2018.

Streisand said, “I wanted to talk about the things that were making me feel so sad, heartbroken,” when speaking about the album with the Associated Press. She remarked that the album’s song “Don’t Lie to Me” was inspired by the continual barrage of “craziness” and false information.

Driven by her desire to communicate her emotions over the status of the country, Streisand continued, “I simply cannot tolerate the current situation.” I believe we are going to struggle over his attack on our democracy, our institutions, and our founders. We are engaged in a struggle for America’s soul.

In her memoir “My Name is Barbra,” which was published in 2023, she goes into additional detail about why she still participates in politics. “Why do so many people find it offensive when artists voice their opinions?” Streisand enquired. “Artists can act as the conscience of a nation. Their art is a reflection of the times, and occasionally they push us to notice things that others would rather overlook. By speaking up, they offer the voiceless a voice.

She said, “That’s why art is the enemy of dictators and tyrants.” Streisand acknowledges that her efforts were ineffective in changing the outcome of the election.

Prior to the 2016 election, Streisand hinted that, should Trump win, she would relocate to Canada or Australia in an interview with the Australian 60 Minutes program. She wasn’t the only celebrity who had a similar view; Jon Stewart, George Lopez, and Chelsea Handler all mentioned that they would leave the country if Trump were elected.

Following Trump’s election, Streisand has not abated her outspoken beliefs. In a 2021 interview with People magazine, she praised Joe Biden and declared that “the country is certainly headed in the right direction.” Biden was commended by Streisand for his “compassion, honesty, and integrity.”

In an essay for Variety, she went into further detail, stating, “Since 2016, we’ve been dragged down into the mud of Trump’s swamp.” With his ridiculous arrogance and astounding ignorance, he has completely destroyed our reputation throughout the world.

Bring Back the Noblest of Truth

Looking ahead to the 2024 election, Streisand is still concerned about Trump’s possible comeback to power. She reiterated her earlier claim while appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert: “I can’t live in this country if he becomes president.” She added, “I like England,” and that she could think about relocating to the country.

“Trump is a man who has never once taken responsibility for his own actions, preferring to blame others when he’s at fault,” Streisand said in her piece. Not even being impeached has made him humble. A new America “without pollution, without obscenities, without insults, and without retaliation” is what she stressed was necessary. We must reinstate the dignity of the truth.only then will America once more be a great country.

Republicans have been discussing the construction of a wall at the Canadian border, so Streisand may need to move soon if she does decide to follow through on her promise to go.
