Even though Depp prevailed in the defamation lawsuit, the same jury judged him accountable for remarks made earlier by his attorney, Adam Waldman. He called Heard’s assertions a “hoax.”
Heard received a $2 million award from the same jury, and she has avoided the spotlight for the past two years.
She said, “I have made no admission,” as she reached an out-of-court settlement despite filing an appeal in December 2022. This is not a giving in gesture. Going future, my voice won’t be subject to any limitations or gags.
She did not take part in the press tour for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, which she starred in in 2023.
Depp also had a long break from the spotlight before attending the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, when viewers showered him with a standing ovation lasting seven minutes for his movie Jeanne Du Barry.
Additionally, he was purportedly romantically involved with attorney Joelle Rich. Rich acted as his attorney in the Heard-related U.K. libel case. However, the relationship was never verified.
