Former Meghan Markle aide breaks silence on bullying allegations

Harry and Meghan refuted the startling allegations made in the book. However, despite the passage of time since its publication, a new witness has surfaced. Samantha Cohen, the late Queen’s former press secretary, has made a statement.

In 2018, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot at St. George’s Chapel. It was the start of what many believed would be a lifetime of devotion to the Crown, but that hope was dashed very quickly.

The pair made the announcement on their official Instagram account on January 8, 2020.

Harry and Meghan Markle declared, “As’senior’ members of the Royal Family, we intend to step back and work to become financially independent while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.”

In order to fulfill our obligations to The Queen, the Commonwealth, and our patronages, we now intend to split our time equally between the United Kingdom and North America.

At first, it appeared as though Queen Elizabeth and the other royals had agreed with their choice. They are human, after all, with the freedom to do as they see fit.

It didn’t take long for things to become really unpleasant, though.

The Oprah interview completely changed the perception of Harry and Meghan and the royal family. First, the couple claimed that some at the Firm were doubting the possible skin tone of their newborn baby Archie. During the interview, Meghan, on the other hand, lost her cool and claimed that the Firm did not offer her any support for her deteriorating mental state.

Later, Harry published his book, Spare, in which he disclosed a great deal of information about the members of his royal family, infuriating many, including Prince William and Kate Middleton.

Shortly before Harry’s book was published in December 2022, the Sussexes made their complicated journey “in their own words” known in a Netflix documentary series.

Harry and Meghan Markle took a “freedom flight” together.

The Netflix series traced Harry and Meghan’s transition from life as royals to a new start in the US. Following their time in Canada, the couple moved to Montecito, California, where they purchased a home and got ready to welcome Lilibet, their second child.

Never-before-seen photos of the couple and their kids, Lilibet and Archie, were on the show. Viewers were also given a glimpse into their initial hours following their departure from the royal family.

The moment Harry and Meghan formally departed from their royal existence was when they boarded their jet in Canada.

Harry called the flight “the freedom flight,” which may mean different things to different people. But now that they’ve looked back, it’s clear that the phrase “freedom flight” describes their feeling of being able to do as they pleased, instead of being constrained by their obligations to the Firm. This was the case for both him and Meghan.

On a private jet, Harry, Meghan Markle, and her mother Doria Ragland departed. It was featured in the final episode of the Netflix series, which many people probably missed because they didn’t watch all six episodes.

Harry used his phone to record a video of his stepmother and the couple’s two dogs inside the aircraft.

Harry placed his finger to his mouth as though he was having a “shh” moment. “We are on the freedom flight, we are leaving Canada, and we are headed to Los Angeles,” he continued.

“This is Grandma,” he continued, pointing to Doria.

Harry then turned to face Meghan, who was seated next to the infant Archie while sporting casual attire and a bobble hat.

“Hello, Archie. We’re going to our mother’s hometown soon,” Meghan exclaimed.

“The couple appeared to be in a panic.”

Their aircraft, according to The Daily Mail, was a 12-seater Cessna jet that sold for almost $6.5 million. It’s unclear if Harry and Meghan purchased or hired the aircraft.

Those who watched the video of Harry and Meghan on the plane appeared to be as content as they could be. Others, though, saw it differently.

According to body language expert Darren Stanton, Harry and Meghan Markle appeared to be in a panic.

As they took off for California, Harry and Meghan had a genuine air of urgency on their faces. Stanton stated in December, just after the Netflix documentary episode debuted, “They both lowered their voices as if they didn’t want to be heard, even though they were thousands of feet above the ground.”

The pair was clearly in a frenzy to leave Canada because they felt vulnerable there. Meghan’s mother expressed sympathy for the situation, and Harry and Meghan both appeared really worn out and concerned.

“The fact that Harry called it a ‘freedom flight’ truly explains his mindset at the time,” the body language expert said in closing. He regarded it very much as a game of cat and mouse, one that required quick thinking.

In contrast to the scenario on the plane, he appears to be much more at ease and content during the remainder of the documentary. It was undoubtedly a difficult time for Harry and Meghan.

Meghan Markle has expressed time and time again that she felt mistreated in her capacity as a senior member of the royal family. She wasn’t the only one, though, who had similar feelings. Employees at Sussex actually believed that Harry and Meghan had mistreated them.

Meghan Markle was charged with intimidating members of the royal staff.

The Times revealed in 2021 that multiple royal aides had contacted the publication, alleging that during Meghan Markle’s time living at Kensington Palace, one of her former aides had filed a bullying complaint against her.

The allegations against Meghan of intimidating two PAs to leave the royal household were discovered in an email received by Jason Knauff, the acting communications secretary for Kensington Palace at the time.

Jason voiced his worries via email to Prince William’s private secretary, according to The Times.

The fact that the Duchess was able to force two PAs out of the house in the previous year worries me much. The Duchess appears determined to pursue someone at all times, according to Knauff.

“She is trying to undermine her confidence and bullying (name removed).”

In less than a month, Knauff submitted his notice. Meghan chose to address the reports of bullying at the same time, stating that she was “saddened” by them. Additionally, Buckingham Palace chose to look into the issues despite Harry and Meghan’s claims that the allegations were a “wholly false narrative.”

The palace said in June 2023 that it had looked into the way staff members had responded to claims that Meghan Markle had been bullied. The human resources policy of the palace has been changed, authorities said, despite the fact that the independent study was not made public. They refused to say, though, what adjustments had been made.

“They broke young women with their behavior.”

The October 2018 email was first leaked a few days before Harry and Meghan met with Oprah Winfrey. A representative for the couple called it a “smear.”

There have been other reports regarding Meghan’s alleged treatment of her assistants, though. The book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown, written by Valentine Low, was published in 2022. It contained shocking claims made by sources citing Meghan Markle’s repeated verbal and physical abuse of her former staff members.

An insider told Low, “There were a lot of broken people there.” “They broke young women with their behavior.”

According to Low’s book, there was an instance when Meghan Markle publicly chastised a young employee in front of her peers.

“Never fear. According to reports, Markle informed the employee, “If there was literally anyone else I could ask to do this, I would be asking them instead of you.”

Valentine Low asserted in another section of Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown that one employee was “completely destroyed” as a result of working with Harry and Meghan. According to a different royal aide, the pair might call them on Friday night for supper, just to chastise them.

I had to step outside every ten minutes to endure her and Harry’s yelling. “I can’t believe you did this,” was what it said. I’m disappointed in you. “What were you thinking?” asked the assistant. “It lasted for several hours.”

William and Harry’s antagonism, according to Harry, “poisoned the atmosphere” in their offices.

Harry acknowledged that “more than once a staff member slumped across their desk and wept” in response to the accusations in Spare.

“She was also accused of pressuring our assistant to resign; in fact, Palace HR asked our assistant to go down when we provided them with proof that she had exchanged her position with Meg for benefits. But rumors took over as we were unable to openly discuss the reasons behind the assistant’s leaving.

There was “regular bickering around the office,” Harry continued, with “sides being taken: Team Cambridge versus Team Sussex.”

“Rivalry, envy, competing agendas—it all poisoned the atmosphere,” he went on. The fact that everyone was working nonstop didn’t help either. We didn’t have nearly enough staff or resources to handle the demands from the press or the never-ending stream of mistakes that needed to be corrected.

There hasn’t been any new information regarding the alleged bullying of Meghan Markle’s employees in a long time. Samantha Cohen, the late Queen Elizabeth II’s press secretary, has nevertheless made the decision to speak.

Cohen affirms that she participated actively in the conversation during the probe into Meghan and the potential bullying in an interview with the Herald Sun.

She didn’t go into additional detail about the inquiry itself. However, Cohen disclosed that due to a high staff turnover rate, Buckingham Palace was unable to locate replacement staffers for Harry and Meghan.

“We couldn’t find a replacement for me, so we took them on a tour to Africa with Harry and Meghan to show them the ropes, but they left (quit) as well,” Samantha Cohen stated. “I was only supposed to stay for six months but stayed for eighteen,” Cohen added.

Valentine Low’s book Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown included a mention of Samantha Cohen. Meghan Markle and Harry allegedly screamed at the former press secretary both before and during the journey to Australia for their 2018 tour, according to one of her friends.

“It was like working for a couple of teenagers, Sam constantly made it plain. They drove her to the brink and were impossible. The buddy informed the author that she was miserable.

“She endured so much abuse from Harry and Meghan, all the while having to fight on their behalf.”
