Following Kate’s passing, Sandy Bell, the university’s executive associate athletics director, made a statement.
“Kate was not only an amazing dancer, but she was also a great student at the College of Nursing and she took her work very seriously,” the speaker stated.
“Kate continued her education even while she underwent cancer treatment. She set a wonderful example for her fellow players. Kate was liked by those who knew her, and she will be much missed.
“Kate was a joy to coach and be around,” stated Dawn Walters, our school’s chief dance coach.
“She was adored by all on the UKDT, and her smile could light up a room.” We are all deeply saddened by Kate’s passing.
