Jane Fonda criticizes Jennifer Lopez’s relationship with Ben Affleck: ‘Feels too much’

If your friends don’t watch out for you and give you the odd relationship advice, then what good are they?

While everyone has been thrilled to see Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck together again, Jane Fonda, a friend of Lopez’s, has expressed some worries. Furthermore, the 86-year-old actress has no qualms about expressing her feelings to the public on Lopez’s reconciliation with Affleck.

When the unusual duo played opposite one another in the 2005 movie Monster-in-Law, they instantly became friends. They’ve stayed close ever since. So close, in fact, that Lopez asked Fonda to be in This Is Me Now: A Love Story, her newest documentary.

Fonda expresses two worries to the husband and wife team in the movie.

Variety reports that Fonda told Lopez, “I want you to know that I don’t entirely know why, but I feel invested in you and Ben, and I really want this to work.” But this is what worries me. It almost seems like you’re living something, rather than only attempting to prove it. You realize that every other picture shows the two of you cuddling and kissing.

“That’s just us going about our lives,” Lopez shot back, chuckling.

After seeing pictures of Affleck at the 2023 Grammy Awards, Fonda also voiced her worries, stating that she was “really scared.”

“Oh, my God, what’s happening? I got real scared with all that shit about the Grammys,” the speaker said. He appeared unhappy.

“Nothing” was wrong with Fonda’s relationship, Lopez reassured her; Affleck was just “like, ‘I’ve become the symbol of the beleaguered man.'”

Fonda stated that she thought “everyone in the entire world is pulling for this relationship and this love,” despite her criticisms, and that the couple’s public presentation of their union is “so important.”

“It should be handled so that you aren’t displaying it too much to the point where it sparks resentment or criticism of any kind.”
