Almost anyone can have terrible things happen to them these days. But the most painful times come when these things happen to the individuals we love the most.
Unfortunately, many families face financial challenges, which forces them to make the painful choice to give up their pets.
Though it’s frequently thought to be the only way to give these creatures a better chance at life, it’s a cruel truth of our world.

Ritter and his brother ended up in a terrible circumstance when their family, overwhelmed by a myriad of issues, determined that giving them up to a shelter was the only practical solution.
They were greeted with open arms by the Humane Society in Hamilton County, Indiana, but Ritter was obviously deeply impacted by the abrupt change in his circumstances.
Ritter had an air of complete despondency, as though all hope had been lost.
He was filled with bewilderment and anguish at having been abandoned by his family, and although he yearned for them to come back, he had to accept the unlikely possibility of their reunion.
The staff at the shelter took a picture of Ritter and posted it on social media to raise awareness of his predicament in the hopes of finding him the kind home he so richly deserves.
Ritter’s picture struck a chord with a lot of people on social media, quickly becoming viral and garnering a lot of attention.
Ritter’s tale touched viewers, and many of them reached out to offer encouragement and to say they would be happy to assist in any way they could.
Ritter’s Upcoming Chance
Megan, a devoted employee of the shelter, told Indiana’s WISH-TV that they were fortunate to have captured the image.
She pointed out that Ritter’s account depicted the fate of many dogs who live in shelters or on the streets.
This one picture did a great job of capturing the hardships and resiliency of all the dogs waiting for a shot for a better life.
Every one of these cute dogs that end up in shelters has a distinct, frequently heartbreaking backstory that brought them there.
The onus is on us as a community to help them start over by offering the care and support they require.
Ritter was lucky to find his forever home rather quickly, where he currently enjoys a life filled with love and happiness, thanks to the tremendous support and visibility afforded by social media.
The employees at the shelter are devoted to his welfare and the welfare of all the other dogs in their care, working nonstop to make sure they, too, find loving homes, even if his sibling is still waiting to find a new home.
It is incredibly admirable that the professionals at the shelter are making an attempt to assist all of these dogs in adjusting to a regular life where they will be surrounded by loving and caring family.
Seeing the positive impact they are having on these creatures’ lives is encouraging.
