Twins are still extremely unusual, but their chances of becoming pregnant rose by 72% between 1980 and 2018. Twins make about 33 births out of every 1,000.
To what extent is the existence of identical twins likely? Approximately three or four identical twin sets result from every 1,000 births. Likewise, not very common.
The 23-year-old Savannah Combs was ecstatic to learn she was having twins. She then learned of another rarity: they were both affected by Down syndrome.
The news was distressing, of course. Because of their situation, Savannah and Justin Ackerman knew that some people would make assumptions about them and their kids.
Still, Savannah thinks highly of them for this reason.
“They’ve been my little gems, but it’s very rare what they have,” she said to News4JAX.
Savannah, a resident of Middleburg, Florida, shared videos of her postpartum journey on TikTok with her children, Mckenli Ackerman and Kennadi Rue, and the videos quickly gained popularity.
Savannah claimed in a video that she had received advice to abort her children because they wouldn’t make it.
She decided to hold onto them and give them a try.
“Every [prenatal] appointment I had while they were still alive was a blessing,” Savannah said.
When she learned they both had Down syndrome, her hubby had already left for boot camp.
Savannah was 29 weeks pregnant and had just given birth to twin girls when she was brought to the hospital. ‘s so along with a ton of other things. Continued from there. The list goes on and on. and so forth. and so forth. and so forth. and so forth. The list goes on and on.
Due to their two-month early birth, the twins required several weeks of care in the NICU before they could be sent home.
She explained, “They’re called mono di twins because they each had their own sacs but shared the same placenta, which meant they would be identical.”
“Mo di twins are quite uncommon as they are. Then you add Down syndrome to it; the likelihood is about one in two million.
Savannah claimed that despite having an uncommon ailment, they are exactly like any other youngster.
“They are emotional. Their heart is still pumping. They have communication skills. They can perform tasks that you can. They’ll arrive, she assured me.
“They may be a step behind, but they will succeed, as I mentioned earlier. These children are cheerful and feisty little creatures, I’ve discovered.
Savannah posts their cute updates on TikTok as each youngster continues to reach their milestones.
“I will convey to them that they are similar to us and that they can achieve success if they set their minds to it.”
Nevertheless, some people think it’s necessary to attack Savannah and her family. The young mother has thus had to respond to some truly rude people on social media.
“I wouldn’t want those babies; if mine came out like that, they would go straight to adoption,” a letter was sent to the mother by someone.
However, Savannah had the ideal response, which she posted on Facebook.
“I expressed gratitude that they were born to me rather than to you. By assigning these babies to the ideal parents who would adore them no matter what, God understood exactly what he was doing.
