Police released some devastating information on an unexpected young death. At Everglades High School in Miramar, Florida, during the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC) 5K, a death occurred.

Western High School Principal Jimmy Arrojo issued the following statement: “I am saddened to share tragic news impacting our Wildcat community.” After being taken to the hospital, one of our JROTC students passed suddenly this morning. I would like to extend my sincere sympathies to his family, friends, instructors, and fellow students during this difficult time of loss.

“During this time of deep sorrow, I ask our Wildcat community to rally around the family in prayer and support,” he said.

Although the little boy’s identity has not yet been made public, a GoFundMe page has been created for a student known as Knox MacEwen.

The GoFundMe page’s description stated, “On November 4th, 2023, the MacEwen family suddenly and tragically lost their beloved 14-year-old son, Knox.” “As a JROTC student, a volunteer in the children’s ministry at his home church, and a cherished brother, son, grandson, nephew, and friend, he was a highly esteemed member of his community.”

It was also reported on the GoFundMe website that Knox’s mother had cancer the previous year.

The account has already raised $67,000 as of Tuesday morning, much more than the $30,000.

In young people, sudden cardiac arrest is quite uncommon. Approximately 200 teenagers in the US die with the illness each year, based on data from the Mayo Clinic.

People who undergo cardiac arrest may exhibit one or more of the following symptoms, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: collapsing, fainting or passing out, breathing difficulties, becoming unresponsive, or having no pulse.

It is important to call emergency services and provide the person medical assistance as soon as possible in such a case.
