For her children, a mother would do anything and anything.
A mother named Phyllis Pena displayed extraordinary bravery and even risked her life to stop a man who was staring into her 15-year-old daughter’s window from fleeing.
Pena discovered 19-year-old Zane Hawkins peering in his daughter’s window just after 7 a.m. on January 31, during full daylight.
The cops were able to apprehend the man despite his attempts to flee. But Hawkins made another attempt to flee at that same moment, and Pena tackled him.
A dash camera belonging to the police captured her deed.
“We don’t often have someone who genuinely intervenes and puts themselves in danger to help apprehend someone,” Sgt. Roy Welch remarked.
Even though she knew she was putting herself in risk, she doesn’t regret it and says she would act in the same way if necessary.
“Making sure I protect my kids is my top priority,” Pena remarked.
Hawkins was taken into custody and accused with resisting arrest, eluding arrest, and possessing a controlled substance.
