Selecting the bridesmaids and groomsmen can be a stressful aspect of wedding planning, but one woman found the ideal answer.
Alexandra Stamps, a fifth grade teacher, asked her kids to be her groomsmen and bridesmaids without hesitation on her special day.
After dating for almost a year, the Wichita, Kansas, science and technology elementary school teacher tied the knot with fiancé Mason McDowell in July.
Mason, a third-grade teacher, also desired his children to be a part of their special day.
The couple requested their students to be their bridesmaids and groomsmen in addition to inviting them to the wedding.
They are a part of my life and I love them. Since they are my biggest admirers, I want them to be up there with me,” Alexandra stated to the Wichita Eagle.
After Alexandra captured her kids answering her question on camera, she posted it to TikTok, where it gained over 19 million views in a short amount of time.
With these words, Alexandra opens the video: “I’m going to ask my pupils to be in my wedding.
The next scene features her speaking to her students in her classroom, saying, “All right, so I have a really important question to ask you guys.”
“Will you guys be my junior bridesmaids in my wedding, Khloe, Mary, Reagan, Angelina, Esmeralda, Lucy, Lily, Bella, and Harley?” She inquires, and the females say, “Yes!”
Will you guys be my junior groomsmen, Bryland, Max, Eric, Emilio, Kayden, Will, Conner, Jessie, Jose, and Sebastian? She asks again, and the boys say “yes” right away.
According to Alexandra, perhaps six or seven of their students started crying because they were so happy to be asked.
Alexandra said why she and her husband asked their pupils, saying, “We spend over forty hours a week with them, and we both really love our students so much.”
Therefore, rather of just having them in the audience, I reasoned that it would be kind of fun to involve them in the festivities.
“I just want to share this unique aspect of my life with them. They deserve to be up there with me because of all the hard work they’ve put in this year, their ability to not only survive but thrive throughout the epidemic, and my observation of their personal growth during the school year. That’s why I want them to be a part of it.
Alexandra stated that she gave the boys bright sunglasses and the girls imitation pearl necklaces after first asking their parents whether it would be alright for them to participate. She proposed to the students, and they all received lollipops with rainbow stripes.
It’s amazing how she honored her kids, and I can only image how happy the students in this class must have been.
